Matt Gruber knows construction—from the ground up. A Charlottesville native, Matt began working for local builders at the age of 15, digging ditches and cleaning up job sites. Eventually he moved up in the ranks, completing punch lists and doing warranty work. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Urban Planning at East Carolina University, minoring in Construction Management and honing his eye for detail. Post-graduation Matt became project manager for a large commercial construction outfit, and during this time he began to realize that commercial construction wasn't his passion. He yearned for the quality and hands-on control that can only be found in custom homebuilding. When an old friend offered him a job here in Charlottesville as project manager for his small custom homebuilding business, Matt jumped on it and hasn't looked back since.
After six years of running someone else's business, Matt took the leap and went out on his own, launching Peak Builders in 2007. Today, Matt enjoys guiding his customers through the custom homebuilding process, offering helpful advice and design input, cost-saving tips and style suggestions to make each home one of a kind. But he also still enjoys getting his hands dirty, and you'll quickly find that Matt is a consistent presence on each of his job sites, making sure every detail is exactly as it should be.
